he Monroe County League has released their 2018 All League awards.  In total there were 53 1st Team picks and 51 2nd Team picks.  In addition, each of the three divisions had a Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards.

oday, the Section released the 2018 All American and Academic All American Award winners.  There were a total of 5 winners for each award in the Greater Rochester Region.  Both All American and Academic All American awards were split with 4 coming from Monroe County and 1 coming from the Finger Lakes.

# 393  State Semi-Finals
hree Section Five Teams advanced to the State Finals tomorrow.  After all four teams moved on to the State Semi-Finals, three of the four won today and will play for their respective State Titles tomorrow.  In the first game this morning, HFL defeated Brewster 10-9.  The second game found Bronxville defeating Pal-Mac 14-5.  The third game featured Penfield forcing overtime and defeating North Rockland 9-8.  The final game had Brighton defeating John Jay 17-7.

The Section Five Class Champions faced off today against their counterparts from Section Six.  At the end of the day, all four Section Five Champions moved on to the State Final Four.  HFL defeated Lake Shore 12-7, Pal-Mac defeated Eden 17-3, Penfield defeated Lancaster 17-5 and Brighton defeated Frontier 18-1.

Updated 05/29/2018 The Tournament has been completed and we have our Champions.  In Class A, Penfield defeated RH.  In Class B, Brighton defeated Spencerport in overtime.  In Class C, HFL defended their Title and defeated Geneva.  In Class D, Pal-Mac defending their Title and defeated Penn Yan.  In addition to securing the Girl's Section Five Championship, the Penfield Patriots Boy's program also won the Class A Title.

here were 12 games played tonight to start off the last week of the regular season.  The closest matchups were Wayne over Gananda 8-7, Mercy over Waterloo 8-7 and Irondequoit over Schroeder 11-10.  Remaining scores included Thomas over HFL 10-7, Pittsford over Canandaigua 12-8, Brockport over Gates Chili 16-6, Brighton over Spencerport 13-8, RH over Fairport 19-9, Penn Yan over Aquinas 13-11 and Greece Storm over Newark-Midlakes 12-3.  Scores are still pending for Victor vs. Eastridge and Geneva vs. Livonia.

# 345  Brighton Fights Back for Late Win
Brighton scored four of the last five goals to comeback and defeat Fairport 14-13.  Both teams held the lead throughout the game, with Fairport holding the largest lead of 9-5 early in the second half.  In total there were seven lead changes in the game and each time that one team threatened to pull away, their opponent came back to tie the game.

he Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team on Friday. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by HFL senior Caitlin Muir who was named Player of the Year. She finished the season with 64g-30a.  She will continue to play next season at Michigan.

op seeded Brighton scored a four goal stretch to end the first half and begin the second half to defeat #8 seeded Irondequoit 9-6.  Irondequoit led for a large portion of the first half, and remained competitive before Brighton began to pull away in the early second half.

# 233  Brighton Wins Sixth Straight
righton scored nine of the first ten goals in their 13-5 win over HFL.  Brighton scored the opening goal, and although the Cougars tied at 1-1, the Barons never trailed.  The first three goals were all scored off the 8m line.  For Brighton, Kathryn Smolensky and Eleanor Burns scored.  Brittany Chamberlain scored the first goal for HFL.

# 181  Smolensky Lead Brighton in Win
athryn Smolensky finished with 3g-2a in Brighton's 12-6 win over Penfield.  The Barons scored ten goals straight before Penfield scored the final three goals during a single yellow card against Brighton.  The Patriots came out of the gate strong and scored the opening two goals.  Lindsay Hernady scored unassisted on fast-break goal only 0:26 into the contest.  Two minutes later Chelsea Atkins fed the ball to a cutting Megan Motkowski to give the Patriots a 2-0 lead with 22:46 left in the first half.  Brighton followed with two of their own.  Rene Gangarosa assisted Smolensky for the opening goal and two minutes later Gangarosa scored unassisted.  Her goal came after she picked up her own rebound directly on the crease and scored on the strong second effort.  Penfield third goal was scored with Brighton's goalie out of position and Lucy Rugaber feeding across the cage to Madigan Lublin.
